Our children often
employ quite different styles of play. Koda loves to play with and
manipulate very big things --
the bigger the better -- so he
is fascinated with these huge water bottles. Since he is just learning to stand up, and they are too heavy for him to move, he's using them as support. He'll be
walking right to them
in no time!
Kaya, on the other hand, enjoys more gentle,
maternal play. She likes to
pretend that her
stuffed tiger is a baby, for example, or that she's a baby
kitty and I'm a mom kitty. She likes to carry dolls and
stuffed animals with her when we go out. Here she is pretending to read a book to her
stuffed poodle. I think she
makes a sweet mother figure.
I wonder if this
has to do with them being a boy and a girl, or if it's just their different personalities? It does seem like typical boy and girl play to me -- probably, it's a little of both.
